  21. Afraid to open the box and look at the modem? That's how you can find out 
  22. who makes it (or get a good idea anyway).

  24. As far as init strings go, that's a pretty basic one that appears to 
  25. include the default settings for most modems (with the possible exception 
  26. of the S0=0 which tells the modem not to answer incoming calls).

  28. Have you tried connecting to any other modem? If so, what was the speed 
  29. of the connection and what was the max speed of the far end modem?

  33. If I bought a computer with a modem in it, I would go back to who sold it 
  34. to me and ask them for the documentation on the modem.
